Puredistance Lounge Cyprus - Limassol

Puredistance Master Perfumes can now be purchased on Cyprus exclusively at Dora Theophilou, the oldest and most prestigious perfumery on the island. Customers can sample the Master Perfume Collection (Puredistance I, 'M' and ANTONIA) in the privacy of a specially for Puredistance designed lounge; our first 'store in a store'.

Following the Puredistance philosophy that trying out a perfume ideally should take place in a peaceful setting, the Theophilou family - owners of Dora Theophilou Haute Parfumerie - created a quiet and elegant space where customers can relax and enjoy the world of Puredistance Master Perfumes. They adopted the same principles as we did when we designed the Puredistance Perfume Lounge in Vienna: to give the customer time, care and trust.

This week selected customers of Dora Theophilou could try out and pre-order our two new perfumes 'M' and ANTONIA, which will be ready for sale in the next two weeks. Reactions were incredibly positive. Not only did they like the perfumes, but they also admired the beauty of the Crystal Columns: the ultimate gift for Christmas!

First report of Puredistance M

Puredistance M - a Master Perfume

Another two weeks and we will be launching Puredistance M: a Leather Chypre. After Puredistance I and Puredistance ANTONIA the third Puredistance Master Perfume. M is made by Roja Dove, one of the leading fragrance experts and creator of bespoke fragrances in the world. What can he tell about his creation?

Roja Dove:

"I rarely create a scent for a brand that is not my own, but when I met the inspirational Jan Ewoud Vos I realised that our quest for excellence is one and the same, and so it was a pleasure to create M for him and Puredistance.

The creation takes its inspiration from the soft, sensual world of leather. It has radiant openness which obtained through a special blend of citrus notes that has an unexpected floral aspect. The floral note is there, hidden, but adding its innate richness and sensuality. A blend of spices, which includes a whisper of clove, interplay with woods to create a warmth that is at once dry and hot, leading directly into the smoky, balsamic softness of the principle note of leather.”

Puredistance in Mannheim

Last weekend I installed a Puredistance Display in the Kurfürsten Parfümerie in Mannheim, Germany. I was impressed by the very friendly and polite service the Kurfürsten Team offered me and all the customers that came in. A special' thank you' I like to give to to Andreas Retzer who patiently helped me clean and install the Puredistance Display.

'Every person should, after visiting our perfumery be a bit happier!' This is the philosophy of Elke Popp, owner of the store. And after the positive experience I had, I am certain this is more than a marketing statement. I am sure all customers will be happier indeed after visiting this wonderful parfumerie!

And I would like to add some words I once read and printed on my door, since I thought it was something not to forget: "People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel."

Vogue discovers niche perfumes

Vogue Australia reports that "And while the fragrance industry is still ruled by the big cosmetics companies, there are smaller, lesser-known brands rising through the ranks... Vogue Australia reports that niche fragrances are on the rise.

Mentioning of Luxury store Vendôme which sells Puredistance in Sydney

The article states: "Niche fragrance houses produce unique, artisan scents, which, while not specifically intended for the mass market, are growing in popularity. The rise of these brands suggests that consumers are searching for unique signature scents to call their own.

British perfumer Roja Dove, who runs the influential Haute Parfumerie at Harrods in London, believes it's all about a search for individuality. "We've reached a time when everything is about me and mine and I can't have the same as you. By choosing niche you're showing that you know something and you have hunted it out because it's not readily available."

Michael Edwards, fragrance expert and author of the seminal perfume guide Fragrances of the World, believes this is more than just a trend. Rather, he says, it's the beginning of a new age, a shift from the corporatisation of perfume, which sees the power swing from the hands of multinational companies onto the wrists of consumers."

Whatever the truth may be about niche perfumes, we at Puredistance simply continue to do what we have always done: work with passion and pride to create a wonderful collection of Master Perfumes. A collection sold by sincere salespeople in stores that know how to give true service. As a consequence Puredistance - regardless of its succes - will always be niche; finding stores that really understand the Puredistance philosophy and know how to truly service their customers are rare. But in the end we find less is more and true exclusivity must be our fate. (I can imagine a worse fate)
