New price Crystal & Gold Column
As of today the new price for both the clear Crystal and the black Crystal & Gold Column is 1890 euro (and for US customers 2270 USD). This brings the price of the Crystal & Gold version closer to the Crystal & Steel version that remains unchanged at 1390 euro.

The Puredistance Crystal Column is the ultimate gift for an event that needs to be remembered

The best way to appreciate its beauty is by seeing and feeling the Column in real life. The first thing many people say when they open the classic white giftbox is: "It's a jewel...!" And a jewel it is; a perfect gift for an event that needs to be remembered, like a wedding. A timeless design, the craftsmanship of Swarovski and the fact that the Column is produced in a limited edition make it something to treasure. The Crystal Column holds any Puredistance Perfume spray that separately retails for 165 euro or 198 USD.

Lively Opening New Campomarzio 70 Store in Rome
Last Friday Campomarzio 70 opened a new perfume store in the heart of Rome. The store is located in Via Vittoria near the famous Spanish Steps and via Condotti, the most prestigious shopping street in Rome.

Colourful guests in the stylish decor of the new store

The classic/modern interior of the store perfectly matches the design of the Puredistance Collection

The place is more than just a perfumery. First of all only carefully selected niche perfumes are present. Secondly the place was designed as a meeting place for perfume-related presentations, conferences and events to educate the public and press about the world of (niche) perfumes. Everyone knows Chanel, Dior and the like, but few know about this hidden world of niche perfumes.

I like to compliment the di Liello Family with the stylish and functional design of their store. A happy marriage of classic arches, wood and modern metals forms the perfect background for a beautiful collection of perfumes and their stories. I admire their bravery to invest their energy in something new and something original. During the dinner that followed the opening in hotel Hassler I spoke to the three architects - Karim, Nicola and Renato - who designed the store interior. It was a interesting conversation, since we were all passionate about creating timeless design rather than following shortlived trends.

Elegant Puredistance Presentation

Then I enjoyed talking to Simon and Amanda Brooke - a very nice couple that enthusiastically travels the world to revive one of England's oldest perfume houses: Grossmith Perfumes. Check it out! All in all I had a wonderful day being together with so many passionate and creative people in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Life can be sweet.

Prize Winner Puredistance Crystal Column
Since one week Puredistance can be purchased directly in the US at the Lucky Scent in LA. As a way of introducing Puredistance in the US, the Lucky Scent has organised - in cooperation with Perfume-Smellin' Things- a prize draw. One lucky reader of Perfume-Smellin' Things could win a 17.5 ml. Puredistance Perfume scent of their choice (Puredistance I, Antonia or M), in a limited edition Crystal Column (over $1800 value).

100 samples of Antonia perfume were given away on a first come first served basis. Receivers of the sample were asked to write a description of Antonia. The most beautiful and telling description would win the Crystal Column and be published on Luckyscent.com.

Danielle Howe and the Puredistance Crystal Column sent back in time

And the lucky winner turned out to be Danielle Howe who writes at Beauty on the outside: an independent perfume and beauty blog. Her beautiful winning description of Antonia:

"The simplicity of the notes belie the perfection that is Antonia: a flawlessly executed performance in Green. Composed by Master perfumer Annie Buzantian for the ultra exclusive fragrance house Puredistance, Antonia is an essay on excellence. Dancing with graceful ease in a harmonious balance struck between the crisp, verdant optimism of galbanum top notes and the smooth, creamy sensuality of vanilla in the dry-down, Antonia recalls dreamy mid-summer days and the sun-dappled skin of reclining lovers’ arms, enticing us, sotto voce: “Come closer.”

Come closer we most certainly shall.

This green goddess, laughingly pirouetting across the stage of hope-filled days of endless sunshine, has bewitched us with her sophisticated yet playful mien. An effortlessly superior fragrance, Antonia artfully demonstrates that the whole really is greater than the sum of its parts."

Puredistance in Warsaw
This week I visited Quality Missala, the only perfumery in Poland where Puredistance feels at home and belongs. More than 20 years ago founder Stanislawa Missala started to sell high quality, not so well-known fragrance brands in Warsaw. She started with Amouage and patiently built up a great collection of quality brands.

Joanna Missala, Jan Ewoud Vos, Stanislawa and Michal Missala

It was the first time I met the Missala family that - as a family - manages the perfumeries and it quickly turned out we shared the same philosophy: serve the customer with honest and good service, no pushing, and grow the business step by step guided by realistic targets and a good heart. A philosophy most of todays big perfume chains might have written down in their press releases, but in reality are not able to put in practice because of their scale and nature.

The whole experience of meeting Stanislawa, Joanna, Michal and all the others family members and their sales team, learning about their ideas and having dinner at their house was heartwarming. As I am a passionate photographer, I took some photos of the Missala family and they were so kind to give me permission to share one photo with you. If you ever happen to be in Warsaw, do visit their perfumery in the Marriot hotel! (and then don't forget to ask for a piece of home made cake made by Stanislawa.)
